the Chef in her Kitchen Dress

In a previous post I posted the kitchen dress prior to its rightful chef receiving it.  Well, the chef has her kitchen dress and is ready for some cooking time.  If she's anything like her mama in the kitchen, I can not wait to try some of delicious cookies! wink wink

No time to waste, let's get cooking!

Lasting Memories

A large family usually equals lots of gifting at Christmas.  A growing large family equals endless gifting possibilities. The solution, draw a name and focus on one!  Great way to save and really put forth some effort into an individual gift.
This past summer when the family drew names I was super excited to have picked my newly married sister-in-law (when I say newly married, I mean she had just gotten married that weekend we drew names!)  Any who, I knew then exactly what I would do for her Christmas gift.
Often, even in the first year marriage bliss, things get busy and certain things get overlooked (regardless of our best intentions)  There are some things that may not be the highest on the priority list but some of them should not be overlooked completely.  A wedding being such an important event in a couple's life, the memories should certainly be captured and cherished.  So my gift? You guessed it,  I set out to make my sister-in-law her wedding album.  Check it out!  Made with lots of love to a lovely couple!

Kitchen Dress

A kitchen dress?  Yes, a kitchen dress...for a toddler.  You mean an apron?!? LOL!  It was informed to me by a little birdie that my sweet niece was wanting a 'kitchen dress.'  And well, I could not resist.  Not only could I not resist her want for one, but who would keep a sweet thing from discovering her inner chef! Not me.  So check it out! Hope this is my first toddler apron among many !

P.S. Once gift is opened (Christmas) I hope to get some pictures of the kitchen dress on its rightful owner! For now, enjoy the stand in model :)

Closet Finds

With fall kicking in and winter being around the corner, I got to cleaning out what needed to go.  Some things old, out of season, or just not used anymore.  I found myself wanting to hang on to a few old favorites.  I am not one to just keep things around, I do like purging and the idea of 'less is more,' but I do find value in reusing certain things. It got me thinking,  could I make those items useful again as something new?

Here is to the first of a few projects, old to new. . .

At the Dinner Table

Gifting around the holidays and graduation for a birthday keeps things interesting, specially for a soon to be college grad.  To go practical or not?  Think I have found a good in between with place mats! Good for small or big spaces, home or away, chic and practical.  You can dress them up or dress them down.  Here's to one year older sis and may they accompany you on your new adventure.

All great change in America begins at the dinner table.

Trick or Treat , oh so sweet!

First Halloween for our precious girl.  So I knew, regardless of what we would be doing, I would make her a costume.  The costume also needed to be fit for a princess.  After thinking long and hard, I finally went to work with idea in mind.  Few days later,  we had a visitor from the Alderaan....

Legging it up!

With the cooler weather finally kicking in, comes the challenge of dressing the lil' one for the morning and evening chill but also for the warmer daytime temperatures.  Add to that, potty training with cloth diapers and you have my love for baby legs, leg huggers or as we children of the 80's would call it, the legwarmers!!!  With any addiction comes self control, and with anyone on a budget that means look but do not buy.  So I set out to make my own baby legs.  Took ladies boot socks and voila!  Even the socks found their new love as legwarmers.  Enjoy ! ! !

Hidden Treasures

In the spirit of being a thrifty mama I set out to make baby girl some clothes.  Trying something new is always fun and experimental.  I have always enjoyed a challenge and being creative.  So I set out to find material around the house that could be used for new outfits.  What I found was a pillowcase and one of papi's shirt that could be reused.  The final products are below.  Happy looking!

A la Mode

Finally! getting around to some sewing.  I have realized that I must be intentional and make the time to sew otherwise it is harder to find it.  So lesson learned, time made and projects finished!  First project was a cute 'bubble' jumper.  A mama shared the tutorial on making this adorable jumper and I just could not let summer go by without making one for the little precious one.  I made some changes to the tutorial, mainly in the straps.  In hopes it will fit her in the spring/summer of 2011, I have made the straps adjustable so that maybe, just maybe she will be able to sport it longer.  Enjoy and keep checking back.  Few more projects to come!

Oldaker Wedding

In June, I had the privilege to shoot my sister-in-law's wedding.  The wedding took place among close family and friends in downtown Fayetteville, North Carolina.  It was a beautiful day for a lovely couple.  Below is a 'preview' of the Oldaker wedding.

Congratulations Seth and Rachel!

Busy Bee!

Spring came and has almost gone.  Baby Sophia came and is growing fast!  And mama has been keeping busy with new projects...Excited to finally post 2 projects that I have worked on between being mommy, cleaning house, running errands and being wife. Think we might finally have a routine...for now :).  Check them out.

Table setting for 6, round table.  Included: Napkins, napkin rings and placemats.  All custom made.  New house, new dining room, new setting!

Also had the privilege to design postcards for a dear friend.  The postcards will be distributed announcing a benefit concert featuring her son.  Along with the postcards, donation envelopes will be needed for the event.  Enjoy the graphics.  Will post the actual pictures of postcard and envelope soon!

I do hope to have more projects for you.  Have ideas bubbling in my head.  Will make them happen ASAP :)

Spring has Sprung

It has been awhile since my last post.  Still working on projects that I do hope to post soon but I am a little occupied with our new addition!  Technically it is a "Lambmark" design so here are a few pictures to show her off!

Wall Art

Something was needed on those plain walls!  In an attempt to vamp up the lil' lamb's room without paint, I decided to create some gender neutral frames to match the bed spread.  Fun, quick and easy!

Making Memories

In wanting to capture little lamb's baby belly a little different (not just pictures) while creating pregnancy memories, we decided to keep things creative and make a belly cast.  After patiently standing still, letting the cast dry and some time decorating here is the final product.  Enjoy!

Out with the old, in with the new

Happy 2010! I was fortunate in 2009, having been given the time to explore my creative juices beyond the corporate office environment.  New ideas keep surfacing so this blog was created to share my creations and ever evolving creative projects.  Here is 2010 and to the unfolding of designs to come !
